Our   Story

With decades of collective fitness experience between us, starting a gym has been a dream of ours for quite a while. We are distinctly aware of the lack of diversity among small gym clientele and know this is a problem. It is the motivation behind why we started Catalyst Community Fitness. With a clear vision of creating an inclusive space where every body belongs, we want to show the community that we are healthier together.

We believe healthy bodies and minds create healthier communities. We are committed to the hard work necessary to solve the stereotypical problems of ego and individualism you might find in traditional gyms as we fight to interrupt this status quo. Catalyst Community Fitness adds the missing element of inclusivity to the fitness space.

It is our distinct belief that with a foundation of compassion, empathy, and love, we can help our members not only achieve their personal fitness goals, but also feel that they are part of something greater than just the workouts that we offer. Though we do believe our workouts are the best and the most fun you can find in the Salem area--for sure!

We are a fitness community with a family feel that is open, welcoming, and inclusive to everyone regardless of race, creed, gender, sexuality, or other defining characteristics. We hope you will join us!

Coach + Gym Photographer
I spent years as a wildland firefighter, where fitness wasn’t optional—it was critical for my safety and my crew’s. Now, as a dad to a three-year-old, my “why” has changed. I train so I can run, play, and be there for my son as he grows.

Functional fitness is everything to me. It’s about staying strong and capable for real-life moments—family outings, everyday movement, and keeping up with my little guy.

Being a trainer at Catalyst has brought back my love for the gym in a whole new way. I enjoy helping people improve their form, get stronger, and hit goals they didn’t think were possible. Watching that confidence grow is what makes it all worth it.
